12-18-23 THOUGHTS
Our choice on how to live pits the LIE of Satan against the TRUTH of God. It is the wisdom of God or the insidious pressure of the devil to capture our lustful desires. Our reading begins by contrasting the “wise and intelligent” with infants. Jesus is God’s wisdom, and Jesus says “COME”! He speaks of learning and finding SOUL REST! 1Cor 1:18 says the word of the cross is the power of God unto salvation. We must invest ourselves in the Word of the Cross and the Person of the Cross! We must find the easy yoke and the light burden. We must see clearly our “gentle and humble in heart,” LORD!
Matt 11:25-30 At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. 26 "Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 27 "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
1Cor 1:18-21 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, "I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE." 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
My Prayer:
O God, may Your wisdom be the object of our mind’s searching. More and anything, may we desire to know You to the fullest. We pray that our longing for You will spill over into our lives in natural and loving ways. May we live in the shadow of the cross. May we abide in Your presence. In Jesus, give us rest for our souls. May we find with our all, the gentle and humble Christ who died for us. May our finding Him, produce our reason for living.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
